For personal interest, I took the examination and qualified as an advanced interpreter (organized by the Shanghai Interpreter Associationj in 2000. My first professional work as an interpreter was a part time job for a garment manufacturer in Shanghai in relation to their import/export and dealing directly with clients from Australia and Canada. Ever since, I have had various occassions where I worked as part time translator/interpreter between English and Mandarin. I went to Paris in 2000, for a Master degree, and that's where I learnt French, with 2 years' education and 1 year full time working experience in the environment, I quickly mastered the language from scratch: in 2002, I did a conference (consecutive) interpreting for Zheng Jiang municiple visiting group (including the Mayor and other high ranked governors) between French/Mandarin.
